After each group session (group sessions 2 -4), students (future social workers) will be required to maintain a journal of 3 of the sessions of which they were a participant. (Please note…the journal entries are sessions of which YOU are a PARTICIPANT). Future Social Workers will write a comprehensive observation of each of the 3 required group sessions of choice.
Future Social Workers are responsible for recording observations and reactions to the 3 group sessions of their choice. Future Social Workers will record observations which include group leadership skills (as described in the CCC text), theory and interventions utilized by facilitators, facilitator’s knowledge of topic, resources provided, group challenges, ethical concerns, group cohesiveness, etc. to name a few.
Each journal entry must contain YOUR NAME, Group Facilitator’s name, group session topic, and date.
Journal entries must be a minimum of 1 page, no more than 2 pages per entry in APA format.
Future Social Workers will save the document and upload to this Discussion Board once ALL 3 of the journal entries are completed.

3rd transition stage for both groups(closing). (Final Stage of a Group)The final stage is a time to further identify what was learned and to decide how this new learning can become part of daily living. Group activities include terminating, summarizing, pulling together loose ends, and integrating and interpreting the group experience. As the group is ending, the focus is on conceptualization and bringing closure to the group experience. During the termination process, the group will deal with feelings of separation, identify unfinished business, review the group experience, practice for behavioral change, design action plans, identify strategies for coping with relapse, and build a supportive network.
