Explain how meaningful use may have helped healthcare interoperability.
Interoperability is the characterstics of a system to work with other systems allowing communication between them and allowing access and thus exchanging the information for productive outcomes.
This characterstics can be particularly useful in healthcare technology where effective communication and exhange of information between the systems can lead to tremendous improvement in healthcare service delivery to the patients. The patient data can be transmitted to other system in case of an emergency for prompt treatment and can be potentially life saving. The similar exchange can make the patient referrals to specialists / other hospitals easy, error free and quick, to pace up the treatment process.
Other use of information exchange can be done to manage records of and communicate with patients regarding their appointments, due dates of procedure, fee payments and manage the service efficiently to avoid inconvenience. It can thus, actually improve the service standards.
Interoperatibility can also be taken advantage of, in tracking cases, managing patient history, observing progression of a condition in effective way for diagnosis, treatment and managing a condition.
