In addition to part (a) please show how you are getting the formulas. I know you have to go through and say T(6) = T(5) + T(4) + 1 etc. but I don’t know how you would do that for T(5) because you’re going to get T(5/2). What would you end up substituting into that?
I’ve already posted this question and the answer I got didn’t have any work shown and so is pretty useless to me for studying.
Please also show the work for part (b), I’m not even clear on how to start that one.
3, (a) Draw the recursion tree for T(n) when n-6 where T(n) T(n/2) +T(n-1) if n is odd and n-3 and T(n) = T(n-1) + T(n-2) + 1 if n is even. Assume T(1) = 1 and T(0) = 0. (b) Solve the recurrence: T(n) = T(n/4) +T(n/3) + 0(n) for n 〉 12. You may assume n is a power of 12 and that T(n)-Θ(1) for n- 12. Does the master theorem apply to this recurrence? Justify your answer.
