Ok, so I am studying for my MCAT and on a practice EK test I have this question. They told me I was wrong, but i am quite certain I am correct. Can someone help?
The correct hybridizations of the C and N in Uric Acid are?
I put, C as sp2 because it only has three sigma bonds. Additionally, I put the Nitrogen as sp2 because it has only three sigma bonds, and only three because its lone pair is delocalized and participates in resonance?
They said this was wrong and that you have to include the lone pair in the hybridization of N, so that the answer was C as sp2 and N as sp3?
Am I correct?
