According to this theory there exist some factors which result in the fulfillment of works while the different combination of the elements results in disappointment. This theory was developed by clinician Frederick Herzberg . in his opinion, there is no correlation between employee satisfaction and occupation disappointment
The hypothesis addresses
- Motivators ( for example acknowledgment for the accomplishment of an employee, obligation, probability of significant accomplishments, contribution in basic leadership, feeling of being important) which provides the constructive fulfillment and these result from the internal states of the employment itself such as achievement, contentedness or personal development and growth.
- Hygiene (E.g. employer stability, compensation, incidental advantages, work conditions, great pay, paid protection, travels) Factors are those elements which do not provide andy positive fulfillmenet or results in greater motivation but the employees can be disappointed f these factors are not provided in adequate amount.
As opinioned by Herzberg, in a working enviroenmeent, these are the hygiene factors which mainly results in disappointments of discontent amkong the manpower. Thus in order to regulate or control the disappointment among the employee in the organization, these hygiene factors must be fulfilled. There are number of methods by which this can eb accomplished, but the most effective methods of overcoming these kinds of disappointments is by the means of providing reasonable wages, guarantee representatives professional stability, and to make a positive culture in the work environment
Accorinding to Herzberg theory, it is quite important to have some motvating factors in the organziation and this is quite practical too. In fact, the most effective method of improving the productivity of the employees is to facilitate them the motivations. The typical example of this is When a manager grants awards to employees who arrive early for work, other workers start arriving early for work to earn the award. But if there are poor working conditions, this would result in poor productivity.
