In todays competitive world it is important for leaders to be efficient in effectively getting the task done by subordinates. In order to make this possible leaders utilize influencing tactics both hard and soft to influence the behaviour of the subordinates and co-workers.
The influencing tactics that I use most are Inspiring, consulting and collaborating.
Inspiring: By applying this influencing tactic I encourage others for accomplishing a common goal by appealing to their emotions, belief and values. This tactic helps me to effectively manage my subordinates.
Consulting: By applying this tactic I influence people by making them participate in making decisions and also in planning about implementing a proposed strategy, policy,or change.
Collaborating: By making use of this tactic I offer to provide relevant resources or assistance in order to make it less difficult for the other person to carry out an assigned task.
The influencing tactics that I use least are Pressure and Coalition.
Pressure: In this influencing tactics the leader demands, threats or intimidation pear to convince others to comply to get the task done.
Coalition: In this influencing tactics the leader uses the aid of others to persuade subordinates to do something. Also the leader uses the support of others as an argument for pear to agree.
It is a crucial task to develop influential tactics. I will further develop my ability to influence using influence tactics by incorporating these wonderful and powerful tactics in my behaviour so that I can make an impact on others and bring about the desired change.
I shared a positive working relationship with my ex-boss. She gave me high degree of freedom to get on with my job. At the same time she was always there to assist and help me in difficult situations. She always steered me in the right direction to achieve the results that are were expected of me. And she never failed to appreciate the work that I did.
In future I will also apply Rational Persuasion Influencing technique for improving my relationship with my superior. By application of this tactic I will present logical arguments and factual evidence in order to persuade boss to think favorably about my suggestions in the projects.
